Implants, and the other ways toreplace a missing tooth
Implants replace a root with a small titanium screw. From there, we restore the crown on top. We also offer bridges and dentures, and will be honest with you about which solution fits your mouth, your bone, and your budget.

What an implant actually is
Two parts: a screw that replaces the tooth root, and a crown that sits on top of that screw and looks and works like a natural tooth.
Dr. Fenn places and restores implants herself, so you are not shuttled between three different offices. From planning through placement to the final crown, it is all right here.

What has to be true before an implant will work
You need enough healthy bone to hold the screw, healthy gums around it, and no untreated gum disease. That is why planning begins with an examination, radiographs, and a 3-D imaging scan.
If bone is thin or has receded, bone grafting can often rebuild it. Dr. Fenn will tell you if you are a candidate for implants, or if another solution makes more sense for your mouth.

The other options, honestly
An implant is not the only way to replace a missing tooth, and it is not always the best one for every mouth. A fixed bridge uses the neighbouring teeth to suspend an artificial tooth between them. A partial or complete denture can replace multiple teeth without surgery.
Or, do nothing and leave it alone for a period. It is your mouth and we explain each option honestly.
Already have an implant and something feels wrong
Even if your implant was placed elsewhere, come in. A loose crown, a sore implant, or gum inflammation around the post needs attention early. Dr. Fenn can diagnose whether the screw itself is intact, or whether the crown simply needs tightening or replacement.
If you are in pain or noticing bleeding, call our office directly so we can see you quickly.
What it costs
The cost depends on what your mouth needs before and around the implant. Some cases are straightforward. Some need work done first. At our office you get the number at the examination, in writing, before you commit to anything.
If you have private insurance, we submit your claim electronically for you. You pay us at the appointment, and your insurer reimburses you.
We also accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan, and we bill CDCP directly so you are not chasing the paperwork afterwards. One thing worth knowing before you come in. The plan pays against a government fee schedule, and our fees follow the Ontario Dental Association fee guide, which is higher than the CDCP schedule. There is a difference in what you pay. Most dentists in Ontario work this way. We would rather you hear it now than at the desk afterwards.
We take cash, debit, Visa and Mastercard.

Request a consultation with Dr. Fenn
Email us a photo of what is bothering you and tell us what is going on. Dr. Fenn will look and tell you what she thinks it might be and what to do next. You do not have to be a patient here to ask.
A photo will not always be enough. If she needs to see it properly, she will say so, and the next step is a full examination with x-rays. If you are in pain, call us instead. That is not something to wait on an email for.
